Shifting Sense

This book reviews past, present and future perspectives of spatial planning, resulting in a comprehensive book, which recaps the past decades and provides outlooks for the future, based on a human-central approach in urban planning which is characteristic for Urbanism in Delft, The Netherlands. "Shifting Sense" consists of four parts. The first two parts are mainly retrospective, considering the relation between societal and spatial aspects, needs and conditions, and new technological developments. The third and fourth part, Networks and Strategies present relevant starting points for the future. By giving a thorough review and analyses of the past, direction can be given to the future. This book sets cornerstones for formulating future outlooks and will serve as an inspiration for a next generation of students, researchers, and practitioners.
