The purpose of this special issue of the "International Journal of Applied Psychology" on Skills, Qualifications and Employment is to offer a comparison of approaches of different disciplines to human work in the context of Information Technology. An introduction by the guest editor proposes a general frame for such a comparison of the disciplines concerned, namely industrial and organizational psychology, human resources management, industrial sociology, labour market economics, artificial intelligence and ergonomics. The conclusion stresses the difficulties of cross-fertilization between the disciplines, which hopefully could be helped by precise epistemological discussions of the diverse methods of "work analysis". This book should be of interest to industrial and work psychologists, personnel managers, and specialists in organizational development.
