Zendaya was surprised and baffled by her unfamiliar, unexpected, and unusual physical reaction. She approached him with caution but was still mystified by her attraction to this Black stranger. Her history of impulsive bigotry should have triggered her normal hateful response after just seeing him, but something strange was happening. In that moment, she experienced a rapid assessment of her eighteen-year-old life as the sight of the stranger numbed her mind into inaction and revealed a never-ending loop of unchallenged racial hate scenes and disinformation. The evocation jolted her to question her denial of the many hidden truths covered under loads of racial lies, misinformation, and inexplicable ignorance. She had lived those lies, never took the time to question them, and now felt confronted by the shameful cruelty she had levied on Blacks. Zendaya's new awareness impacted her soul, 'woke' her heart, un-blind other race realities, crushed self-denials, and started her on an epic journey of love and race.
