Jasper Montgomery is driving back to her small hometown of Lake Pristine for Christmas. Lake Pristine is an aptly named little town, perfect for hopeless romantics and people who were incapable of minding their own business. Known as the neurodivergent sheep of her family, and an academic overachiever, Jasper is not quite ready to reveal to everyone that she has dropped out of her first year at college after only one term. Or that she has a secret list of things she wants to do in Lake Pristine one last time before she leaves for good. Definitely not on her list are crashing (literally) her icy older sister's very public proposal in front of the entire town and the camera of brooding film buff and wannabe documentary maker Arthur Lancaster. The more Jasper tries to stick to her list the more obstacles it seems Lake Pristine and its residents are determined to throw at her, especially Arthur who is dangerously close to becoming a very BIG reason to stay. But can Jasper trust the boy behind the camera and the secrets he has been capturing on film, and just exactly what story is he trying to tell about her and their town?
