The object of the textbook Working for the Future on development studies is to give students analytical tools for understanding, and encourage them to participate actively in their community's development efforts. The aim is that they should use their own knowledge and experiences as the basis for understanding, to have the capacity to link the sight of farmers ploughing fields with an analysis of its meaning in terms of factors of production, investment, and production of surpluses. To help this process, this teacher's guide accompanies the student textbook. It suggests exercises, simulation games and activities that could assist teachers to give the course more local content. It covers teaching a concept- based course; practical projects; and class activities by chapters of the textbook.
