Albertine Hannah underestimates the power of art when she takes the photograph that changes her life. Charged with child pornography, she flees Toronto and lands in Watson, Ontario as a new person - Anne Hanes. But, erasing the past makes her a ghost with no future. It is August Killdeer, a half-Ojibwe photographer that awakens Albertine's desire to reclaim her life. But, first she must make sense of the facts and fiction of her life. "I'm not sure what scares me more; my past being exposed or my future committed to a lie."
