Specifically, when synergized with decisive air, land, sea, and cyber operations, space assets, and space effects enable strategic, operational, and tactical level asymmetric advantages. The United States has enjoyed an unprecedented asymmetric advantage in space operations in the last 15 years. However, the progress the United States has made in the development of space capabilities has also deepened our dependency and potentially increased our vulnerability to attack and exploitation of the very capabilities we depend on. The January 2007 Chinese Anti-Satellite (ASAT) test exemplifies just how vulnerable United States space assets are to attack.
