Spirits Do Not Fear Death takes the reader on a journey of self-actualization, with emphasis on the personalization of individual life journeys. A central theme throughout the poems is the concept of being in tune with your chi, a personal spirit guardian according to the religious theory of the Igbo people of Nigeria.
The poems are divided into three parts. Part One acknowledges periods of personal failure and disconnection from your chi. Part Two highlights the struggle to regain control of your life, to re-establish connection with your chi. The final part celebrates an awakening of your mind to believe in the affirmations of your self-worth and untethered connection to your chi.
The poems collectively encourage baring oneself to genuine human sensibilities, trusting your chi to work in your best interest; to feel sadness in times of distress but ultimately work towards and hope for times of bliss and fulfillment.
