When I wrote the song, Still Gonna Praise You in the quiet of a deserted classroom at Indiana Bible College, I had no idea the people and places that it would reach. If this song has taught me anything, it is that our trials and triumphs have a far greater reaching effect than we ourselves could ever have. What you go through and, more importantly, how you go through it will determine the outcome. If our trust and confidence in the Lord remain steadfast, then nothing can be compared to the testimony that will be shared and the glory of God that will be revealed when the trial has passed.
Looking back, however, it did not begin in that classroom when I put pen to paper and in a broken voice began to sing. The story began when I was a little girl in desperate need of a healing touch. Or perhaps the song was birthed out of the fear of losing my sister’s life while she was being wheeled off to emergency surgery some seven hundred miles away. Those were the dire moments in which I whispering the words, even so Lord, I’m still gonna praise you. A song with any worth at all will burn as an anthem in your heart long before the words transfer from pen to paper.
This is my story. I share it with a confidence that my song is a song the angels cannot sing. This is the story of why I will forever sing, Lord, I’m Still Gonna Praise You.
