Ele's debut novel, Boy 87, won four awards and was nominated for ten more, including the Waterstones Children's Book Prize. She lives in Hampshire with her husband and two daughters.

I love an adventure story anchored in reality and here it's the setting that really sings. Both locations are vividly rendered, with the author scratching beyond the postcard images of Cornwall and Fiji to give a saltlick of real life beyond the coves and coconut palms.
