Don't miss out on this white-knuckle submarine warfare fiction by naval specialist Peter Brendt!

Peter Brendt once served in the German Navy, became a weapons diver, and is also considered an expert on the U.S. Navy, with whom he had dealings on numerous NATO missions. He is the creator of the "von Hassel" series of novels that revolve around the submarine war from 1939 to 1945. He also wrote the thriller series "DiAngelo" about the cat-and-mouse game of modern nuclear submarines.

With " UBOAT SM U-15 on a war cruise in hostile waters," he again presents a sweeping u-boat fiction story that depicts the war at sea in all its cruelty. The book is a revised edition of his 2019 book "Iron Tube - Unrestricted U-Boat Warfare."

Blurb
The commander's gaze glides over the sea - or at least what he can see of it. It is not much. Clouds of fog waft over the water. The year is 1917, and in a few months, it will be the third anniversary of the war. Lieutenant Commander Mller and his crew of 38 lie in wait in their submarine.

Out here, they are on their own, operating deep in hostile waters.

It's quiet as a mouse in the boat; Mller's think about his options. Radio operator Heidkamp holds his breath. He is listening. A British destroyer moves at three-five-two.

The hunt begins ...

"UBOAT SM U-15 on a war cruise in hostile waters" is a suspenseful and harrowing novel that realistically recreates the war at sea. The submarine weapon was still in its infancy at the beginning of the 20th century. The boats in which the men set out for the war at sea were correspondingly primitive. The German High Command hoped to cut off supplies to Great Britain with their submarines. To this end, German u-boats operated on their own for weeks and months far from home. The German submariners paid the price for this strategy. Celebrated by propaganda, many of them did not return from their perilous war cruises.

To tell his fictional story against a factual background, the author borrowed the boat designation SM U-15 for his imagined crew. The actual U-15 was the first German submarine to be lost in August 1914, when it was rammed by the British cruiser HMS Birmingham.

The book comes with a glossary explaining cultural and military terms and German references.
