Sustainable Forest Management: Updated Reviews

This research-focused book discusses the updated reviews regarding the topic of sustainable forest management. Even though the idea of forest sustainability is an age-old concept, the understanding of sustainable forest management (SFM) as a tool which balances various socio-economic and ecological concerns is relatively new. A significant change in viewpoint commenced during the 1990s as a consequence of an enhanced awareness of the deterioration of the environment, specifically regarding the alarming loss of forest resources. This book comprises of original case studies from 12 distinct countries across 4 continents (Europe, Asia, Africa and America). These case studies reflect a diversity of experiences from developed and developing countries, and should clarify the present status of SFM across the world and the problems related to its implementation.
