The question of who killed Cock Robin is still unanswered as the trial of his alleged murderer collapses and the investigating officer disappears.

DI Jerome Devereaux and DC Polly Huckabee are sent to South West England and the little-known independent Kingdom of Dumnonia to reinvestigate the murder and find the missing sheriff.

Dealing with his own inner demons, Devereaux, along with Huckabee, discovers a land full of mystery and intrigue whilst having to deal with its bizarre inhabitants.

As their investigation takes a series of disturbing twists and turns, they uncover more about a world of characters many of whom you will recognise but know very little about.
