Thank You...No, Thank You!

What acknowledgements really matter? Overused expressions such as Thank You and Sorry have left us nave and vulnerable. When do we ever here these words when we truly need them?, or when may they serve the true purpose for which they were intended? Bank machines and recorded operators are very eloquent and sincere with issuing these statements. People however, are not. If experiencing life-altering abuse in the way of bullying, beatings, insults, isolation, drug abuse and alcoholism, perhaps these terms in their true form can provide comfort, closure and relief. It is during these episodes however, that we almost never hear them. Doug examines some experiences involving abuse and reflects upon the search for solitude in the way of verbal support and communication during various crises in a young man's life.
