The Aletheia

A collection of letters that lays out the principles of the Shaker community, also known as the United Society of Believers. The letters expound on the society's beliefs and practices, including on celibacy, communal living, and pacifism. This work provides insight into the faith of an American religious movement that has largely disappeared today.
