The Americas in 1988

The 1988 report, while it finds new impetus for peace in Central America, focuses on the problems which still threaten peace and stability throughout the AmericasoLatin American trade debt; drug abuse; expanding populations, economic depression and political violence in Central America; and the continued threat of military intervention in the political affairs of young democracies.
