The Battle of Tomochic is the fictional narration of the actual military campaign of October 1892 mounted by the Mexican Army that culminated in the complete massacre of the small but courageous village of Tomochic. Written four months after the event, the story is narrated by an eyewitness, then second lieutenant Heriberto Fras.
This is the most complete edition of Tomochic to date, and the only English language translation available. Although the work is fiction, the general plot is far too similar to the actual massacre not to be seen as a direct criticism of Porfiro Diaz.
