The Big Picture's purpose is for business English students to improve their vocabulary and discussion skills. Each unit integrates both vocabulary and discussion activities so students can improve their language skills and increase their confidence in speaking. In addition, the text has a small amount of grammar and a few role-plays. It is for intermediate level students and above.

The subject matter for the articles is not based on the latest news or events, but is about ideas, research and issues that are being discussed in business schools, media and business. The topics are designed to introduce new ideas to students and provoke discussion.
