Areas described in detail include: Quebec and its environs, Lower St. Lawrence, The River Saguenay, A list of salmon and trout rivers below Quebec with their distances, Eastern townships, Montreal to Lake Champlain and the River Richelieu, Montreal to Quebec, up the Ottawa, Brockville, Kingston, down the St. Lawrence, Toronto, Collingwood to Sarnia, Lake St. Clair, and Niagara Falls. The appendix contains a catalog of the animals of British North America.
