Jack Olivares, a medical examiner from Albuquerque, blows into the dusty town of Santo Milagro to repay a debt to his father's friend Sam. His plans are foiled when he discovers that the spunky, gun-toting cowgirl is his cousin.

They are getting to know each other and trying to solve their families' mysterious estrangement when a local rancher is murdered.

Sam thinks Jack is the answer to her prayers until he arrests her best friend, then the gloves are off!
