The Cocoa-Van Summer

You can't always get what you want, but... Alan's unexpectedly drawn into an affair with Penny after they meet for the first time at the funeral of her wayward husband. As they grow closer they find themselves revisiting the doubts and uncertainties they had when they were young; things they never expected to face again in middle age. Meanwhile, time's getting on for Penny's spoilt daughter, Emma. If only she and her self-centred partner, Giles, could agree about starting a family before it's too late. The problems with their crumbling relationship are a constant worry for Penny. She also fears they'll threaten her own future with Alan when he reluctantly becomes involved in them, too. And when those problems become acute it's up to Alan to try to find a solution to match everyone's needs.
