Adopted as a young child, Sarah Ward has always preferred order to chaos. Structure is safety. That’s why she’s worked so hard to craft a life that checks all the boxes: raise a happy, healthy child, be a supportive wife, and maintain friendships and hobbies.

So Sarah is stunned when Donny—her high school sweetheart and husband of twenty years—announces he wants a divorce. He says her pursuit of order has changed her.

Salvaging their marriage seems impossible. 

Still, if there’s any hope of reconnecting, it’s during the trip they’d promised their daughter before they take her to college. At the family home in Wyoming, immersed in the place and people Sarah has always considered a refuge, she starts to realize the truth in Donny’s words. 

During a trip to the local farmer’s market, Sarah finds an old journal. Soon, she’s absorbed in the love story inside. At first, it’s inspiring. But as she learns more about the identity of the journal’s owner, long-buried family secrets emerge. 

Now, Sarah questions whether a happily-ever-after is possible for her, or for anyone. With the help of her family and her home, can Sarah rediscover herself and win Donny back?
