The Crable site is a late prehistoric site in Fulton County in west-central Illinois, along the Illinois River. In this report, Hale Gilliam Smith combines results from the University of Chicagos excavation in 1933 with information from local collectors in order to present a description and analysis of the site. Archaeologists uncovered burial mounds, fire pits, and a cemetery; artifacts included ceramics, chipped stone tools, and shell ornaments.
