When an approaching darkness threatens an island of light, one man must push back the storm and summon the strength to move mountains.

As a child, Mikey, who wants nothing more than to be the hero of his own story, is tasked to find a way for him and his best friend, Cattherina, to escape into the world of their dreams. But after a tragic accident, Mikey is forced to run off alone. While the fate of his friend remains a mystery, Mikey arrives upon a magical island known as Epotus. Here he learns of a darkness threatening the land, which aims to bury Epotus in a crash course collision: the Dark Mountain. Mikey is gifted the “Wings of the Crallow,” an object that will help him defeat the mountain. But is he ready to be the hero this world needs?

As an adult, Michael, who has no memory of his time on the island, encounters a dark force that poisons his mental will and psyche. Michael spends years dealing with the “mountain” of darkness that haunts him, but he hits a breaking point, slips, and finds himself at the precipice of total destruction. Michael must dig deep, find his true self, and summon the strength to move mountains or else his friends, and all of Epotus, could be lost to dark tides churning at the foot of the Dark Mountain.

Reminiscent of Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are and Stephen King’s It, The Dark Mountain is a novel about a young boy with a wild imagination that draws a blurry line between reality and imaginary. A mix of childish wonder and a darker, more sinister essence coats The Dark Mountain, making it an exciting psychological read that makes readers question childhood, innocence, mental illness, and the dichotomy of good and evil.
