The Defence Industry in East-Central Europe

The Defence Industry in East-Central Europe charts the dramatic changes in Eastern European defence industries - in particular those of the Visegrad countries: Czechoslovakia and its successor states, the Czech Republic and Slovakia; Poland; and Hungary - after the collapse of state socialism in 1989-90. Judit Kiss uses national case studies to underline the different approaches to reform adopted by the individual countries, and takes unique information derived from extensive interviews at enterprises in each of the four countries to examine the transformation of industry from a producer perspective.
