The Earth Beneath Us

Resigning herself to a life of sadness and solitude, Blair struggled day by day in the city. Her mother had passed a year earlier and her dad lived hours away on a farm. Too far for a girl who could only afford one good meal a day. So when her dad suddenly appeared on her doorstep offering a warm room and good food, she couldn't refuse. Taking her only possession of worth, a phone that belonged to her mother, Blair left the city for her childhood home.

But as Blair came to realise, home was a four letter fantasy. The spawn of her dad's mistress, the woman who tore her family apart, had also come to stay. The farmhand, Tanner, who took Blair's interest and soon her heart, was already taken. And the fates wouldn't allow her to be happy going so far as rewinding time to change her destiny. At least school was soon to begin and Blair could find peace once more in the solitude of insignificance.

A peace also denied her. Lillian, a short and wily student in Blair's year, marked her as friend and Astrid, dark and impetuous girlfriend of Tanner, targeted her as an enemy. In a world where she wished only to remain unnoticed, Blair would be forced into the spotlight to face her demons and defy even the fates themselves.
