The Europeanization of the Alliance

The 1980s have seen dramatic changes in European security, with profound implications for the future of Western collective defence. In this book, the author discusses the central elements of the Europeanization effort, such as the revival of the Western European Union and the construction of a Mediterranean security triangle among France, Italy and Spain. The author assesses the multilateral and bilateral efforts toward Europeanization, the transformation thus far achieved and the challenges for future development of the Western collective defence system.
