This guide to the field of editing has been written by the former managing editor of Cornell University Press. Elsie Myers Stainton covers relations between editor and author, including how to be diplomatic when recommending changes, usage, style, editorial judgement, editing notes and bibliographies, how to edit on disks and best methods of checking proofs. She provides checklists for the manuscript, proof and index stages, and includes an annotated bibliography of reference works useful to the copyeditor.
