The Gem is a story about grief. It helps children process grief while reading an age appropriate story. This book opens up the conversation for parents and caretakers to embrace the concept that people are gifts from God, and that when we lose someone we love, it's heart breaking. Although the illustrations are focused on children, the main text applies to all ages.
