Paul Mahaffy was an intelligent and talented wordsmith. Throughout his life, Mahaffy used his writings to communicate thoughts and love, which he often struggled to express verbally. After his passing in 2020, Mahaffy's family compiled everything he had written for them, desiring to share his heart and artistry with the world, so that maybe others can be just as touched by his words.

"As you are mine to champion,
So, I am yours to love for years to come.
All of me that speaks of love,
To you who deserve much more."

"So take to life like the grouse's flight,
Don't hide and hope all will be right,
Embrace the Lord and love the race,
The hunt is best with trust in place."
Paul Dennis Mahaffy was raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Western Pennsylvania in the 1940s. In the subsequent years, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History from Indiana State University, Indiana, PA and a Masters of Business Administration from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH. Mahaffy served in the Army, including a combat tour in Vietnam. He graduated from the Army War College and held leadership positions in numerous companies throughout his professional career. He also was a devoted husband, father and great grandfather. Later in life, Mahaffy returned to his childhood land in Western Pennsylvania to realize his lifelong dream of building and operating a sportsman's shop.
Solider and businessman, world traveler and avid outdoorsman, dearly beloved husband of fifty-five years and father of three and grandfather to seven, Mahaffy was sturdy, fierce and intelligent. Delving into his writings allowed his family to see his heart and connect with the deepest parts of him that were rarely witnessed. With this book, a compilation of his writings, his family invites you to join them in getting to know their Gooseman, a nickname given to him in association with his self-built sportsman's shop, Gooshevn.
All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Veteran support organizations.
