The Home Stretch

The Home Stretch by Michael Campagnoli is not afraid to experiment with form and movement, in a collection that weaves dialogue, theme, and image together. Metaphor drives the collection of poems, as seen in "Loons", when the speaker says: 

“There, in the distance,

two threw back

their wet black heads, gave

answer and reply

answer and reply

sad-sweet skirl of melody.

Almost entwined, they slipped

beneath the water’s edge.  Silent.

Disappeared.
