The House That Built Me

Eastern Kentucky was author Nina L. Cornett Gosser's home for almost the first eleven years of her life. That was long enough for the beautiful mountains to have built her. The mountains are in her blood and will be who she is for the rest of her life. In The House That Built Me, Gosser shares the story of the journey that made her who she is today and brought her to this time and place. In this memoir, she narrates the history of her large, poor family and how they found the love, safety, and comfort the Appalachian Mountains offered. This family's story illustrates how survival and thriving are possible with the power of a strong mother, hard work, and, most of all, the power of God. The House That Built Me harkens back to when times were simple but hard, chronicling the story of a single mother raising twelve children with no income source in an extremely harsh environment.
