This is the story of the Islamic Society of Central Jersey (ISCJ) and the pioneers who came to New Jersey from different countries of the world for education and jobs starting in the 1950s, with aspirations for a good life for themselves and their children. Their initial priorities were to earn American degrees in their professions so that they could get suitable jobs and settle their families in this new land called the United States of America.
Once they fulfilled their day to day needs to survive in this new land, they began to realize that there was a spiritual vacuum in their lives. There were no mosques or places dedicated for practicing the obligatory daily prayers in their neighborhood where they and their children could go to pray, socialize and learn to live and practice the Islamic way of life.
