There are two generations of Indians in America. The first generation (that emigrated from India) tends to maintain most of their socio-religious traditions - culturally and religiously. The second generation has a unique culture - one that is partly Indian and partly American. The American Church has had a decreased spiritual influence on both the first and second generation in varying degrees. Although there are several major world religions in India, Hindu culture is largely synonymous with Indian culture. The first part examines these two generations. The second part will look at the biblical and theological foundations of evangelism. Core biblical topics, post-modernism and the Hindu concept of Bhakti are discussed. These topics, though diverse, have evangelism as the common thread that runs through them. In the third section, the understanding of the two Indian cultures and the theological foundations of evangelism will be used to develop strategies for introducing Jesus. This book is for anyone who is involved in ministering to Indians in America, whether in Indian or non-Indian churches or wish to understand their Indian friends and colleagues better. This book can also be used in India as the principles of evangelism for the second generation are applicable to the late Xer's and millennials in India today.
