In a world long sundered and torn apart by war and environmental destruction, one legendary candy maker is intent on retiring after creating one last batch of konpeit candy before calling it quits. Unfortunately for Gaspar the candy maker, his dreams of retirement are swiftly put under strain when a stranger enters his shop in the guise of darkness and on the final day of operation. The local warlord, Huxley, offers Gaspar a chance to finally retire with more money than he ever made during the lifetime of running his candy store, or risk death if he refuses. After warily accepting Huxley's ultimatum offer of catering a masquerade ball at his mansion, Gaspar embarks on one last journey of his cooking career and accompanies the warlord through the war-torn world to his lavish manor in the hills. Will Gaspar ever fulfill the terms of his last contract? Or will he be doomed to repeat what so many other candy makers had tried and failed at? Only time and rhyme will tell! A poetic entry of fiction told in a unique way. This book has 80 poems all written in holorime, and each poem acts as a separate chapter of sorts that continues the story all the way until the end.
