This book is a historical and ethnographic study of the Native American tribes of Illinois and Wisconsin in the 19th century, with a focus on the last surviving members of the Illinois Confederation. Based on interviews and archival research, the author describes their lives, customs, and beliefs, as well as their interactions with European settlers and the US government.
