The Letter is a product of the author?s experience and written to parents/guardians and persons with all forms of disabilities. The letter is a story of a disabled boy called William. William was not given opportunity to express himself and his potential. William, also, did not strive to exhibit his potential. He accepted what his mother said about him being useless and good for nothing. William?s mother rather showed love to another disabled child whom she had not met. She regretted having William as a son and would have preferred Vanessa instead. Just as William?s mother loved Vanessa, so also was William?s hatred for Vanessa. In contrast to William, Vanessa was a celebrity and loved by many people, including William?s mother. At the point when William?s mother was about to end his miserable life, he came face to face with his greatest enemy, Vanessa, who was the very cause of his misery. That encounter was the turning point that brought William a better life he never had. The book lets us know that there is ability in every disability in humans If the disable is shown appropriate love and given the opportunity to harness it. It shows that the physically challenged have a voice also and must strive to do things that normal persons do rather than play second fiddle. The book encourages the physically challenged, who are privileged to always assist those ones who are disadvantaged. The book is a letter to parents of kids with disabilities and to other disabled kids who have been able to overcome the limitation of disability by discovering their potentials with the encouragement and love from their parents, family and friends.
