The Lord's Prayer

Why the Lord’s Prayer is called by that title is obvious: it is the only prayer that our Lord taught His disciples to pray. Coming from the Lord Himself, who came to do His Father’s will (John 4:34), the Lord’s Prayer is a supreme expression of God’s will. What is it that God, whose gracious will is to give what is best for His people, would have us pray? If “all the promises of God find their Yes in him” (2 Cor. 1:20), Jesus is the greatest and best gift God can give to His people and therefore the central subject of our prayer.
