The Membrane Hypothesis of Aging

This work offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary description of the cell maturation and ageing process. The membrane hypothesis of ageing (MHA) described in this book is based on actual multidisciplinary knowledge of cell morphology, physiology and biochemistry. It has a solid basis of known facts and explains the destructive, progressive, intrinsic and universal character of the ageing process. The book interprets other ageing theories, including free radical theory of ageing, dysdifferentiation hypothesis of ageing, and cancer and the accumulation theories. It presents important issues for future research and also outlines the possibilities of an efficient, preventative, anti-ageing drug design and presents the first results of such research activity.
