In 1994, nineteen-year-old Claire booked a one-way ticket to Ibiza. It is on this Mediterranean island that she meets Mike, the young artist and architect behind Manumission, and they begin a passionate affair. But this is not your average love story: together, the couple embark on a wild ride to success that would change the course of club culture forever.

The Motel tells the story of the couple's first four years at the helm of the hottest club night in Ibiza, culminating in the infamous summer of 1998. To complete the season's 'Murder at the Manumission Motel' concept, the pair take over a pink abandoned brothel and, under the neon glare of a sign that promises 'Bar, Bed, Breakfast', this doll's house on acid becomes Mike and Claire's home. By the time she is twenty-three, Claire is the powerful, unabashed queen of Ibiza nightlife - but she is also living dangerously close to the edge, at risk of losing everything.
