This is a sequel to Brichto's iconoclastic Toward a Grammar of Biblical Poetics, (OUP 1992), which argued for the aesthetic wholeness of the Hebrew Bible. Brichto now focuses on the book of Genesis, examining one of the great inconsistencies that have led to the supposition of multiple authors - the assortment of names for God. Brichto instead makes a strong case for the text as the achievement of a single author.
