The record of black graduates covers the period from the time the first Afro-American received an academic degree, 120 years ago, down through 1936. Particular attention is given to the number, location, occupations, and social and economic backgrounds of living graduates. On the basis of the gathered information an attempt is made to estimate future trends in higher education for blacks. Originally published in 1938.
