The Pap Smear

Cervical cytology has a history extending more than 50 years and has significantly decreased the mortality rate associated with cervical carcinomas. This work covers not only established light microscopy for screening smears, but also recent techniques for establishing cell proliferation in smears, confocal microscopy and the applications of neural networks in the screening process.
