Milo is different from other penguins. He feels cold! He doesn't like to dive into the icy water like the rest of the penguins. Then one day he goes on a trip to a faraway place where it's warm. He makes new friends who accept him just the way he is. With friendship and support, he learns how to be himself back home, how to stay warm, and how to help others who are different like him.



The Penguin Who Was Cold is an endearing modern initiatory tale of a young penguin named Milo who does not want to dive into the icy water of the pack ice to catch fish. Unlike his comrades, he stays put, standing alone at the edge of the ice floe, contemplating the icy sea. A voice suddenly interrupts him. A whale appears and offers to take him on a trip with her. Milo readily accepts. It is the beginning of a fabulous journey, marvelously full of riches and unusual encounters. In the faraway South Seas, Milo is amazed by the colors, by the warmth of the water and the air, and by the friendly reception of the tropical animals and creatures living there. He tells them his story, and a parrot decides to give him a precious gift . . .
