Photorefractive materials combine photoconductive and electro-optic properties. A vast amount of research effort has been poured into the subject of photorefractive materials in the last two decades (about 2000 papers written). These materials are of great interest both to physicists and engineers because they display a variety of new phenomena with great potential for applications. This book gives both a gentle introduction and a detailed account of all the major advances.
