When Penny, the hard-working daughter of a tavernkeeper, meets Nick, an orphaned stableboy who lives by his wits (and a few "borrowed" wallets), opposites do not attract. While Nick and Penny are fictional, their adventures put them (and us!) in the thick of the action with the real-life heroes (including Paul Revere and George Washington) and battles (such as the Battle of BunkerH Hill) that shaped a brand-new country.
