The Political Economy of Racism

An examination of the relationship between the issues of race and class in the United States set in its historical context. Leiman argues controversially that black people in the USA will remain the subjects of racism until they realize that their problems stem from class society rather than from the colour difference with whites. Taking a multi-disciplinary approach he explores racism not only from an historical but also an economic and sociological perspective and concludes that racism is embedded in the capitalist system.
