An analysis of an attempt to revitalize declining religious practice by implementing the RENEW programme which originated in the United States. Incorporates a case study, analysis of the development of religious organizations in the modern age, and draws conclusions about the control of spirituality and the significance of hierarchical structures and lay participation within religious organizations.
