This is the story about Pamela Brink's experience living with the Annang people on her first field trip to Nigeria in 1976. She isn't the heroine in her story--heroines are not supposed to be as confused, angry, and scared as she was in Nigeria. As a university professor on her first sabbatical leave, she faced many emotional difficulties as she tried to make sense of her circumstances. "The Pot Wanted to Break" illuminates the beautiful, brutal realities of life as a field researcher.
