Reflecting on current debates in media cultural studies, this monograph develops a methodology that offers new readings of race, class, and gender paradigms. This methodology is explored in concrete case studies by applying it to popular and contemporary music video productions. The conclusion is that in order to adequately capture the pop culture products of a mass media culture in theoretical terms, the definition of culture must be opened up.
